CERT responded to Kiwanis Park in Coral Springs to assist with the care of students that were evacuated from Ramblewood Middle School on Thursday, February 18, 2016. A bomb threat was called in to the school at approximately 10:45. Officials evacuated the school to Kiwanis Park, behind Station 64 on Ramblewood Drive. When officials recognized that the evacuation would last for at least a couple of hours, they requested CERT to respond to assist with the distribution of water to the students. Just after 1:30 the all clear was given and the students were allowed back into the school.Special thanks to Captain Ralph Troino, and members of the inspections division, as well as all of the firefighters from station 64 for their assistance on scene. On December 29, 2015, the CERT canteen was activated for a working fire at 5314 NW 87th Way. A resident reported heavy black smoke coming from the house across the canal. A few minutes later dispatch started receiving multiple calls from other residents in the neighborhood. They were eventually able to identify the correct address....
