CERT has been requested to assist with a special seminar presented by the Coral Springs Regional Institute of Public Safety (formerly Fire Academy) featuring Dr. David Griffin. Members will assist with organizing the parking of in-service fire apparatus from around our region, as well as distributing water to attendees during the event. We are expecting numerous public safety personnel from around the state.
A little info about the seminar…
On June 18, 2007, nine firefighters perished in a warehouse fire in Charleston, SC. What was initially dispatched as a trash fire escalated into one of the most scrutinized events in national fire service history. David had the unfortunate experience of being the engineer on the first due engine that day. As he operated on the fireground, he witnessed things that he will never forget. This seminar is a reflection of lessons learned from that day.
